Join Allen Acres for mothing and other insect events at Allen Acres during the National Moth week July 22-30 2023.15 light and sheet setups are scattered over their 26 acres property, near the Kisatchie National Forest and about Ouiska Chitto Creek. The number of IDed moths is 1004 and the total of other insects (non-moth) is 555. They also have recorded 510 plants, 212 fungi, 67 birds, 59 butterflies plus numbers for other organisms.
They will turn the lights on near dark each night and off after daylight the following morning. They are hoping to schedule a butterfly count and a fungi foray during the time period and will schedule tours during the day to pitcher plant bogs, baygalls, pine forests. etc.
Stay at B and B (www.allenacesbandb.com) with a reduced rate of $80 per night during the event or plenty of other loding locations nearby. Allen Acres also offers meals at $10 per meal and breakfast is part of the B and B stay.
